Welcome to the "Little Oak" Orange gym:
Our Maine Coons enjoy a healthy invironment with lots of fresh air and high quality cat furniture for regular exercise. Above are are Jolie and Ashanti having fun on the "Little Oak".

Here are two of our half grown females on the "Spiders".
Cats prefer bright rooms and like to watch the birds outside. All our gyms have window seats and access to outdoor enclosures. (shown on the Purple Nursery page)

The Orange cat gym can be separated into two rooms for the segregation of females that have kittens.

When it is time for a female cat to have her babies, she enjoys the comfort of her own private area .

Wall unit with three large birthing cages
Note: We don't believe in caging unless it's for a short time with a good purpose!
We had to learn the hard way several times over the past 21 years that it's the safest thing for both the queen and the kittens to be in a small enclosed space during birth and also during the first couple of weeks of nursing. Here are more pictures of our roomy birthing area:
Mom gets free run every two to three hours during her short time of confiment.
When the kittens turn about 4 to 5 weeks of age, the birthing pens are being removed. At this point the kittens are using their litter boxes faithfully and get full run of the nursery:
Sturdishelters make great kittie play tents!

The Nursery provides a safe environment for kittens of all ages. During certain times of the year the Nursery can also be a very busy place. Be prepared to have kittens climb on your legs to hug you and go for a "ride" on your shoes through the rooms with you.
We enjoy our Prairiebabies so much that we lie to our customers and tell them their kitten has to stay here for another week. :-))

Mom stays with her babies at all times. This allows them valuable nutrition and the comfort of being nursed until they leave our house. We do keep our kittens until they are between 12 and 16 weeks of age, or even until later. Considering that the Maine Coon Cat is a very slowly developing breed, our Prairiebabies need this time with their mother and their siblings, in order to become that patient, gentle, easygoing pet you read about in the magazines.
Our kittens come with registration papers, most times already spayed/neutered, vet-checked and with a written, vet-certified health guarantee. Their anchestors are frequently tested for genetic diseases. We ship to approved homes only.
And here some of the ribbons our cats have won over the years:
We cannot emphasize enough on the importance of quality nutrition - for both our human family and our animals. Our feeding program is for sure the most expensive anyone could find!
Here is what we presently feed to all our cats and kittens:
Morning: Plate of supplemented Raw Turkey, Chicken or Beef,
Lunch time: A snack of "Wellness CORE" and "Taste of the Wild" dry food (Evo from Innova or Orijen would be fine as well). They are high meat content, grain/corn/gluten free Dry foods
Evening: Plate of supplemented Raw Chicken, Turkey or Beef,
Every other day (summer months only only): Day old chicks as a healthy treat (not required of pet buyers)
Pregnant and nursing females also get Extra Bloom Wate, a high calorie fat supplement, added to their raw food. They are always in TOP shape.

There are five keys for us to be able to continuously provide sound and healthy kittens:
Genetic Diversity
Testing/Selecting for Breed Specific Diseases
Lots and lots of TLC
A Natural Raw Meat Diet
Almost 25 years of Breed experience
Since we run an in-house Cattery, we are not open for casual visits. Buyers are welcome to pick up their kittens and can be given a tour during this time. We would kindly ask that people visit local cat shows to see purebred Maine Coons being shown and judged. Thank you for your understanding.
Note: All cat furniture on this site has been purchased from Great Lakes. We're part of the preferred breeder program Great Lakes. When visiting their website, make sure to enter our Cattery code BR0904002 to get your 10 % discount!
